Topeka’s Bike Community Celebrates Cranksgiving

Led by the Topeka Community Cycle Project, bicyclists came together over the weekend to celebrate Cranksgiving - an annual ride in which cyclist ride to a local grocery store to purchase food for donation. On November 16, 2025 a group of cyclist rode from Blackbird Espresso Bar and Bistro to Apple Market and purchased over $400 worth of food to distribute to DoorStep Inc and blessing boxes around Shawnee County.

Other community members contributed by donating money towards the cause, as well as donating food items directly. Cranksgiving is a national initiative that started in 1999 and occurs annually in over 100 communities. This past Cranksgiving marked the 13th consecutive year for Topeka Community Cycle Project!
